We are a proper Canterbury tearoom in a period building full of character, all low beams, gilt mirrors and leaded windows onto the street. People drop in through the day for breakfast, a light lunch or afternoon tea, and stay for a second pot.
A traditional tearoom in the heart of Canterbury, where the scones are baked fresh each day, the tea comes in proper pots, and there are more than thirty teas and coffees to choose from.
The baking is what we are known for. Pastries, cakes and bread are all made here in the tearoom, and our scones have something of a reputation: they are enormous, light and fluffy, and the flavour changes with the day. They sell out quickly, so it pays to come early.
More than thirty varieties of tea and coffee, each one made with fine ingredients and freshly brewed. Our own signature tea pours a light golden colour with a gently floral flavour, and there is good coffee for those who prefer it. Tea always comes in a proper porcelain pot with a jug of milk.

Alongside the baking there are heavenly breakfasts, light lunches and traditional afternoon teas served on tiered stands, with more than thirty varieties of tea and coffee, every one freshly brewed. If you cannot stay, take a basket of scones home with you.

The scones come up again and again: bigger than any bakery scone people have seen, light and fluffy, and often sold out well before closing. The regular advice is simple, arrive early.
Visitors keep mentioning the building itself, a historic room full of character, cosy window tables upstairs and a genuinely friendly, welcoming team.
Many note that everything tastes properly homemade, from the bread under the rarebit to the pastries, cakes and even the clotted cream.
